About Scheurich pottery.
As a business Scheurich was established in 1928 as a producer of glass and porcelain. In 1954 the company started producing ceramics using an electrical funnel kiln. The 1970's saw the birth of the lava vase collection typified by loud colours - these wonderful vases revolutionised design and are still much loved and collected today. All of the company's ceramic vases are made with German clay. Until 1990 all vases were stamped either West Germany or W.Germany. Post unification this was replaced with Germany. The numbers on the bottom indicate a style (532) and height (28cm). Colours always vary slightly due to firing.
