What is a Tomato Press Used for?
Essentially a Tomato press takes tomatoes and mills them into a sauce. The tomato sauce is known as Passata, which is the fundamental of many Italian cookery dishes. You simply load the tomatoes (fresh or canned) into the press and turn the handle. The passata will come down the shute into your bowl, and the skins and seeds will exit the other side of the press into a bowl to be discarded. The thickness of the sauce will depend on the quality of the tomatoes.
As will everything cooked, preparing your own ingredients trumps shop bought every time, plus it is glorious fun making a mess whilst doing it. Enjoy!
