A pair of SPIDER cast iron candleholders with original handdipped 15" tapers. Designed by Jens Harald Quistgaard (IHQ) for DANSK DESIGNS in 1963, the SPIDER candlestick is a sculptural and aesthetically highly pleasing mid-century Danish modern design marvels in their own right.
The sandy black cast iron SPIDER candleholder fits 12 taper candles, distributed over its two-tiered arms and feet - the latter finished with smooth black enamelled pads underneath to avoid scratching the furniture on which it stands.
There are many imitations of this design but these come in (non-matching) original boxes with a box of mixed red and white original tapers, it is hallmarked IHQ, DANSK DESIGNS and Denmark.
The boxes have age related wear.
